Abstract

Educational objectives are statements that describe what the students will be able to do as a result of learning activities. This study analyzed the implementation of knowledge dimension and cognitive process dimension of revised Bloom’s taxonomy in the educational objectives of and English textbook that commonly used in Indonesia. The textbook that was analyzed in this study is the English textbook “Pathway to English” for grade tenth (X) that was publiseh by Erlangga. The main instrument of this study was the taxonomy table proposed in the handbook of the revised Bloom’s taxonomy. The study employed descriptive qualitative method. The result showed that the knowledge dimension and cognitive process dimension are spread all over the educational objectives of all chapters in the textbook. Out of 99 educational objectives, there are 27 objectives in C1, 30 in C2, 16 in C3, 5 in C4, 8 in C5, and 3 objectives in C6. Moreover, for the knowledge dimension distribution there are 53 objectives in K1, 39 in K2, 1 in K3, and 6 objectives in K4. Furthermore, the result also showed that the knowledge dimension and cognitive process dimension are presented in the educational objectives by placing verbs that represent the six categories of cognitive process dimension and nouns that represent the four categories of knowledge dimension.
