Abstract

This job training report is entitled "Translating the Indonesian Substitle of Paniradya Kaistimewan's Short Movies Pitutur and Pitutur 2". The first short movie is a short movie that tells about the lives of two boys who have different characteristics, while the second short movie is a continuation of the short movie "Pitutur" which tells about the consequences of ignoring parents and leaving worship. The translation process started from December 2022 to January 2023. In translating the two short movies, the author used 4 translation processes from Suryawinata and Hariyanto (2016); they are analysis, transfer, restructuring, and evaluation and revision. There were eight techniques used in translating. They were amplification, transposition, description, adaptation, compensation, established equivalent, literal translation, and borrowing. In translating the short movies "Pitutur dan Pitutur 2" there were several obstacles such as difficulty in finding the right equivalent words and lack of vocabulary mastery. To overcome these obstacles, the writer could ask for help from other people and look for sentences that are poorly understood through an offline dictionary or an online dictionary. As a good translator, the translator must be able to convey the appropriate message or meaning to the reader. In the process of film translation, it is advisable to re-evaluate the translation results in order that there are no errors.
