The Implementation of Role Play to Improve Students’ Speaking Skill in Learning English (A Descriptive Qualitative Study on the Eleventh Grade Students of AEDS Program at Al Ikhsan Islamic Boarding School in the Academic Year of 2024/2025). Thesis. Supervisor 1: Mustasyfa Thabib Kariadi, S.Pd., M.Pd., Supervisor 2: Dian Adiarti, S.Pd., M.Hum., Chief External Examiner: Novita Pri Andini, S.Pd., M.Pd., External Examiner: Slamet Riyadi, S.S., M.Pd., Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Jenderal Soedirman University, Faculty of Humanities, English Education Study Program, Purwokerto. This study aims to describe the implementation of the role play method in speaking class activity on the eleventh-grade students of AEDS Program (Arabic and English Development Skills) at Al-Ikhsan Islamic Boarding School Beji Purwokerto in the 2024/2025 academic year. This subject of this research is the eleventh-grade A that consists of 30 students. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The results show that the implementation of role play was conducted in three stages: preparation, practice, and performance. Students showed improvements in speaking fluency, vocabulary mastery, self-confidence. Role play found to be effective to create an interactive, enjoyable, and motivating learning environment that encouraged students to speak actively in English. However, several challenges were also found, such as the need for more preparation time and classroom management during the activities. Overall, role play found to be an effective method for enhancing students’ speaking skills in English learning contexts.
