Abstract
Background: Leadership is an important element in nursing, but how leadership style evolves across years of study in nursing is underexplored. Some students don't recognise what leadership style they have. This study aims to describe the leadership styles of nursing students at Universitas jenderal Soedirman. Methodology: This study is a quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach involving 516 nursing students at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman through total sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using a leadership style questionnaire distributed in the form of a Google Form. The data were analyzed using univariate analysis. Research results: The research results show that respondents were aged between 17 and 22 years old, with the majority being female and from the 2023, 2024, and 2025 cohorts. Based on the analysis results, authoritarian leadership style was mostly moderate (66.5%), the democratic style was largely high (78.3%), and the laissez-faire style was mostly moderate (89.5%). Conclusion: This study shows that most nursing students at Jenderal Soedirman University have a democratic leadership style. Keywords: Leadership style, nursing students
