Abstract

Abstract This report is the result of job training activities carried out from January 25, 2021-March 31, 2021. The purposes are to find out the steps of writing headlines and news and to find out the obstacles and solutions in writing online news. The methods used in writing this job training report are observation, interviews, and documentation. In writing news, several steps must be taken before the news is published. For example, before writing news, a writer must conduct observation on an event to get information (5W1H) and then write headlines or news titles and the news content. After going through several steps, the news that has been completed and approved is then published on the UPT Bahasa website. There are several obstacles such as a lack of events due to the pandemic and the long process of news revision. The solution to this problem is that UPT Bahasa should start writing promotional news to promote the UPT Bahasa itself and make the revision such as providing a special editor for English news so that the revision processes will be faster. Abstrak Laporan ini merupakan hasil kegiatan praktek kerja yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 25 Januari 2021-31 Maret 2021. Tujuan untuk mengetahui langkah-langkah penulisan headline dan berita serta untuk mengetahui kendala dan solusi dalam penulisan berita online. Metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan laporan pelatihan kerja ini adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Dalam menulis berita, ada beberapa langkah yang harus dilakukan sebelum berita tersebut dipublikasikan. Misalnya, sebelum menulis berita, seorang penulis harus melakukan observasi terhadap suatu peristiwa untuk mendapatkan informasi (5W1H) kemudian menulis headline atau judul berita dan isi berita. Setelah melalui beberapa tahapan, berita yang telah selesai dan disetujui kemudian dipublikasikan di website UPT Bahasa. Ada beberapa kendala seperti minimnya kegiatan akibat pandemi dan proses revisi berita yang terlalu lama. Solusi untuk masalah ini adalah UPT Bahasa harus mulai menulis berita promosi untuk mempromosikan UPT Bahasa itu sendiri serta menyediakan editor khusus untuk berita berbahasa Inggris sehingga proses revisi akan lebih cepat.
