Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the type of interrogative sentence in Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children 2016 Movie along with this translation strategies and accuracy level. The analysis of this research was conducted by using the English interrogative sentences types by Greenbaum & Nelson (2013), subtitling strategies theory by Gottlieb (1992) and the accuracy theory by Nababan, et al (2012). This research applied a descriptive qualitative method. The researcher found 85 data of interrogative sentences spoken by characters in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children 2016 movie consisting of Yes/No Question (34,1%), WH Question (47,1%) and Uncategorized Question (18,8%). There are 7 types of translation strategies used to translate the interrogative sentences found in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children 2016 movie consisting of transfer (47,1%), imitation (24,7%), paraphrase (11,8%), condensation (9,4%), deletion (3,5%) and decimation (3,5%). The results of the questionnaire from 10 raters show that 92,9% of the total of interrogative sentences in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children 2016 movie’s subtitle are accurate, and 7,1% of them are less accurate. The findings of this study are that the type of interrogative sentences does not affect the translation strategy used, while the translation strategy affects the accuracy level of the target language. Therefore, the translator must choose the correct translation strategy so that the translated text can have a high accuracy level. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis kalimat interogatif dalam film Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children tahun 2016 beserta strategi penerjemahan dan tingkat keakuratannya. Analisis penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan teori jenis kalimat interogatif bahasa Inggris oleh Greenbaum & Nelson (2013), teori strategi penerjemahan oleh Gottlieb (1992), dan teori keakuratan oleh Nababan, dkk. (2012). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Peneliti menemukan 85 data kalimat tanya yang diucapkan oleh karakter dalam film Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children 2016 yang terdiri dari Yes/No Question (34,1%), WH Question (47,1%) dan Uncategorized Question (18,8%). Terdapat 7 jenis strategi penerjemahan yang digunakan untuk menerjemahkan kalimat tanya yang terdapat pada film Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children 2016 yang terdiri dari transfer (47,1%), peniruan (24,7%), parafrase (11,8%), kondensasi (9,4%), penghapusan (3,5%), dan penghilangan (3,5%). Hasil kuesioner dari 10 penilai menunjukkan bahwa 92,9% dari total kalimat interogatif pada subtitle film Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children 2016 adalah akurat, dan 7,1% di antaranya kurang akurat. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jenis kalimat tanya tidak mempengaruhi strategi penerjemahan yang digunakan, sedangkan strategi penerjemahan mempengaruhi tingkat keakuratan bahasa sasaran. Oleh karena itu, penerjemah harus memilih strategi penerjemahan yang tepat agar teks yang diterjemahkan memiliki tingkat keakuratan yang tinggi.
