Abstract

This job training report is entitled “Translating Owabong Waterpark Website from Indonesian into English”. The objective of the internship was to translate the information content on the Owabong website. The information content on the Owabong Website will be translated from Indonesian to English. There are four methods to obtain the data: observation, interview, documentation and hand-on practice. Observation was done by observe the website. Then the interview was done by asking questions to the marketing manager of Owabong Waterpark, the documentation was done by collecting data information on Owabong website, and the last hand on practice was done by searching for websites similar to Owabong to serve as references for quality website translations. Data from Owabong is then carefully collected, translated, edited, and added back to the website to ensure accuracy and contextual relevance. During the translation process, the writer uses translation techniques from experts, among which are: Literal translation, pure borrowing, naturalised borrowing, variation, etc. The results of the translation process were discussed with the supervisor and management of Owabong Waterpark and added as a new feature on the Owabong website. It is expected to make it easier to provide English-language information to foreign visitors. The translation process of the Owabong website involves collecting and processing data, observing website features, converting data into text format, and translating it into English. Understanding the source website's meaning, context, and purpose is crucial, and errors in Owabong's original text were corrected during translation. This process underscores that being a good translator requires more than language knowledge; communication skills, translation techniques, and cultural understanding are also vital. Interviews with Owabong's marketing manager help tailor translations to specific needs and objectives, ensuring accuracy and cultural appropriateness. Ultimately, the translation process not only provides information access for English-speaking audiences but also enhances Owabong's international image as a tourist destination.
