Abstract
A preliminary observation revealed that eleventh-grade students at MAN 2 Banyumas encountered several challenges, including a lack of interest, low selfconfidence, and anxiety toward the English language. This situation adversely affected their English speaking proficiency. Consequently, these circumstances provided an opportunity to conduct research on the issues identified. This study was conducted to examine the implementation and effectiveness of the Flipgrid platform, as well as students' perceptions of its use in developing their speaking fluency. A quantitative method employing a quasi-experimental design was applied. Out of 160 eleventh-grade students, two classes—XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2—were selected as the sample, with a total of 82 students chosen through purposive sampling as participants. Data were collected via observations, tests, and questionnaires. The results of the study revealed several key findings. First, the implementation of Flipgrid as a learning facilitator was executed effectively within the instructional process. Second, test results indicated a significant improvement in students' scores. The pre-test results showed an average score of 62.3 for the experimental class and 58.9 for the control class. Meanwhile, the post-test results showed an average score of 87.7 for the experimental class and 76.4 for the control class. Third, questionnaire data regarding students' perceptions indicated that Flipgrid assisted in enhancing their speaking fluency. Specifically, 90% of the students reported they were able to comprehend the speaking tasks on Flipgrid. Furthermore, 85% of respondents believed that Flipgrid had a positive impact on their speaking fluency, while 90% stated that the platform increased their interest in speaking English. This research confirms that the Flipgrid platform can effectively improve students' English speaking fluency.
