Abstract

This research aims to identify values aligned with the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile in the tenth-grade English textbook entitled “Pathway to English” published by Erlangga. This research is motivated by the moral decline observed among students as a result of globalization and the COVID-19 pandemic. The vision of shaping students in accordance with Pancasila values, as stated in the Regulation of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology No. 22 of 2020, underlies the need for research on the inclusion of the Pancasila Student Profile dimensions in textbooks used in schools. The Pancasila Student Profile consists of six dimensions that students are expected to develop: (a) faith in God Almighty and noble character, (b) global diversity, (c) mutual cooperation, (d) independent, (e) critical reasoning, and (f) creative. The research method employed in this study is content analysis, in which the researcher focuses on analyzing sentences found in one sub-unit of the Pathway to English textbook entitled “Lead-In”. Based on the research findings, the researcher identified 55 sentences or phrases containing values of the Pancasila Student Profile in this textbook. From the data obtained, it can be concluded that all dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile are present in the main text of the Lead-In sub-unit, although the frequency of each dimension varies across units. Furthermore, the findings indicate that the most dominant dimension is critical reasoning, while the dimensions with the lowest frequency of occurrence are mutual cooperation and creative.
