Abstract

This research was begun from the unique problem that happened in 2020-2021 due to the covid-19 pandemic. The general concern on this research is the realization of online learning during pandemic circumstances. This state compelled classes to transition of online learning, which presented challenges for both students and the teachers. The main concern of this research is a narrative inquiry on the realization of online learning during pandemic circumstances at students XI of natural science 6 at SMA N 5 Purwokerto. Because of this condition, the researcher conducted the research with aimed to find out the implementation, student`s perception and asses the disadvantages and advantages.The data was analyzed using thematic analysis. The subject of this research were 4 students out of 40 students of XI Natural Science 6 SMA N 5 Purwokerto. The researcher interviewed the students for 15 minutes each student. The instruments of this research were interviews and documentations. Narrative inquiry is the method of this research. The results of the research are as follows: (1) According to students` perspective, the implementation is not effective. Both teachers and students have to adapt and utilize various tools to engage students and ensure their understanding. (2) Students have an uncomfortable and disruptive perception of online learning, believing that offline learning provides a better understanding of lessons and more opportunities for socialization. (3) The disadvantages of online learning outweigh the benefits. The implementation of online learning is not effective due to internet connection issues and self-study challenges. For the teachers, provide support to students who may find it challenging to adapt on online learning.
