Abstract

Quizizz is an online learning media that is commonly used in teaching and learning activities. This research aimed to (1) figure out how the Quizizz was implemented by the teacher in teaching reading at the eleventh DKV 2 of SMKN 2 Purwokerto in the academic year of 2024/2025; (2) reveal the students’ perceptions toward the use of Quizizz as online learning media for reading comprehension in eleventh DKV 2 at SMKN 2 Purwokerto in the academic year of 2024/2025; (3) uncover the strengths and weaknesses of using Quizizz as online learning media for reading comprehension that eleventh DKV 2 students faced at SMKN 2 Purwokerto in the academic year of 2024/2025. The researcher employed a descriptive-qualitative design. The data were collected through observation, questionnaire, and documents. The population was eleventh DKV 2 students with a total number of 36 students. The researcher used a total sampling technique and chose 36 students as the sample. Based on the observation, the teacher already did the teaching activities well. Before the teacher implemented Quizizz, she gave students instructions and reminders to use online learning media wisely. The teacher also implemented Quizizz in the classroom activities and as a learning medium to assess homework. Next, the questionnaire results from each indicator indicate that (1) the use of Quizizz as online learning media got a total mean score of 2.85, indicating a high mean rank; (2) the perceived ease of use Quizizz got total mean score of 3.21 indicating high mean rank; (3) the impact of Quizizz on learning motivation got total mean score of 2.94 indicating high mean rank; (4) behavioral intention to use technology got total mean score of 2.67 indicating high mean rank; (5) benefits of using Quizizz in reading got total mean score of 2.87 indicating high mean rank; and (6) weaknesses of Quizizz got total mean score of 2.2 indicating moderate rank. Lastly, the documents from the teacher's lesson plan indicate that the teacher already did good teaching activities, starting from pre-teaching activities, whilst-teaching activities, and post-teaching activities. From the analysis results, the researcher concluded: (1) Quizizz was implemented by the teacher in a good way in the classroom; (2) students had a positive perception toward the use of Quizizz as online learning media for reading comprehension; (3) strengths of Quizizz were related with students can learn unknown words, improve students' reading speed, the material easier to understand, and bit affected on their reading diligent, the Quizizz weaknesses include vulnerable of personal data, technical problem, and students difficult to concentrate.
