Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the use of English songs to learn English listening skills among the students of MTs Muhammadiyah 8 Purbalingga, in the academic year 2022/2023. Technique of data collection of this research involves some processes of observation, interviews with English language teachers, and distribution of questionnaires to students to collect relevant data. The research showed that using English songs as a media for teaching English listening skills has proven to be an effective approach, students' interest, and increases their listening abilities. However, this research also identifies the importance of using English songs to learn English listening skills, highlighting the significance of addressing the challenges that arise during the process. Recommendations to address these issues encompass enhancing classroom facilities, providing additional support to students in comprehending song lyrics, and implementing effective classroom management strategies. By addressing these challenges, the teacher can maximize the potential of using English songs to enhance English listening skills for seventh grade students’ at MTs Muhammadiyah 8 Purbalingga or other educational environments.
