Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. Jenderal Soedirman University. Faculty of Humanities. Language Education Department. English Education Study Program. Academic year of 2022/2023. Keywords: Assessment, Speaking, Types of Speaking Assessment Assessment is the procedure of collecting, analyzing, documenting, and using the information about students' responses to educational tasks. It provides a systematic basis for drawing conclusions more about learning and development of students. This research aims to investigate teacher’s assessment types in assessing student’s speaking also the implementing in learning process. This study is a qualitative research with a Narrative inquiry as a research design. The objects of this study are the teachers at SMK Kesatrian Purwokerto. This research uses purposive sampling. The data were collected through interview and document analysis. The data were analyzed through thematic data analysis. The results of this study show that (1) both the teachers used different assessment types in assessing student’s speaking skills. Mr. Ad with Imitative assessment, while Mr. Ag with interactive and extensive assessments. (2) the reasons why they used those assessments were to improve student’s comprehension in practicing English pronunciation and to develop student’s critical thinking while expressing ideas, (3) in the implement of the learning process, both the teachers used WhatsApp group for additional discussion related to learning activities and powerpoint as teaching media. In conclusion, the teachers had their own types of assessment, and in fact it was quite successful in developing students' speaking ability.
