Abstract
Omara Arya Rachmanu, 2023. “Spotify As Alternative Learning Media In The Teaching Of Listening (A Pre-Experimental Research of Learning English with Spotify Podcast on the 2nd Semester Students of the English Education Department Jenderal Soedirman University Academic Year 2022/2023)”. Thesis. Supervisor 1: Muhamad Ahsanu, S.Pd., M.Sc., M.Hum., Ph.D. Supervisor 2: Weksa Fradita Asriyama, S.Pd., M.Pd. External Examiner 1: Tuti Purwati, S.S., M.Pd. External Examiner 2: Laxmi Mustika Cakrawati, S.Pd., M.Pd. Ministry of Education and Culture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Faculty of Humanities, Language Education Department, English Education Study Program, Purwokerto. This research is focused to implement Spotify podcast as alternative learning media on the 2nd Semester Students of the English Education Department Jenderal Soedirman University Academic Year 2022/2023. In this chapter, the researcher discusses and elaborate on some points. The purposes of this research are: (1) To find out how teaching listening using Spotify podcast is implemented to the 2nd semester students of English Education Department of Jenderal Soedirman University Academic Year 2022/2023, (2) To discover how is the result of the implementation of Spotify podcast to the 2nd semester students of English Education Department of Jenderal Soedirman University Academic Year 2022/2023. (3) To find out the response of the 2nd semester students of English Education Department of Jenderal Soedirman University Academic Year 2022/2023 after the implementation Spotify podcast. The methodology of this research is quantitative research with pre-experimental design. The participants of this research were 28 2nd semester students of English Education Department of Jenderal Soedirman University Academic Year 2022/2023. The data were collected through written test and interview. The technique of data analysis were descriptive statistics, frequency distribution and the management of graphs. The results of this research are: (1) The teacher should create some quality podcast audio using Spotify. (2) The students' listening skills were enhanced in this research (3) The students found listening to podcasts on Spotify to be interesting and rewarding since they could pick up new vocabulary and develop their listening skills.
